Practice

Don practices in all areas of Intellectual Property Law, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, international patents, and copyrights. His special focus is on prosecution of applications for patents and on registrations of trademarks and copyrights. He is experienced in licensing, patent infringement and validity issues, and evaluation of other intellectual property rights.

Professional

Don was admitted to practice in Oregon in 1977; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, in 1979; U.S. Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit, in 1982; U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, in 1979; and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, in 1978. His representative clients include Gunderson LLC, Leatherman Tool Group, Inc., J.F.S., Inc., and The Seaberg Company, Inc. Don is past president of the Oregon Patent Law Association and a member of the Multnomah Bar Association and Federal Bar Association.

Education

Don earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School, Ithaca, New York, in 1977, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, in 1966.

Personal

Don served on active duty as a U.S. Navy officer, 1966-74, and retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve as a Captain. Hobbies include travel, music, cycling, and fly fishing.
