Donald B. Haslett
Don Haslett joined Chernoff Vilhauer in September of 1977 and has been a partner in the firm since January of 1984. He is member of the Oregon State Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and the Federal Courts of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit.
Don has been listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" Since 2012 in Copyright Law and Intellectual Property Litigation areas.
Before attending the Cornell Law School and beginning his career as a patent lawyer, Don served for eight years as an officer in the Surface Warfare branch of the United States Navy, including experience in navagation, gunnery, and sonar, and two years as Commanding Officer of U.S.S. Esteem, an ocean-going minesweeper.
Don has been involved in a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including patentability searches, preparation and prosecution of United States and foreign utility patent and design patent applications, negotiating and advising clients regarding technology transfer and licensing agreements, counseling clients and providing opinions regarding patentability, patent validity, and patent infringement, counseling clients regarding choices of trademarks and service marks and obtaining registrations of such marks, and litigation.
