Kurt joined Chernoff Vilhauer in 2000. His practice focuses extensively on preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications in a broad range of technologies, including optical communications systems, wireless communications systems, image processing, video coding standards, electronic circuits, hydraulic systems, and software. Kurt assists clients in managing their domestic and international IP portfolios, as well as provides transactional and IP enforcement services including drafting license agreements, performing patent infringement and validity analyses, and if necessary litigating his clients’ IP.
Kurt’s practice areas include patent prosecution, trademark prosecution, IP licensing, litigation, and ex-parte appeals before the United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Representative clients include Sharp Laboratories of America, Cascade Corporation, and the Greenbrier Companies.
Kurt is a member of the Oregon Patent Law Association and Multnomah Bar Association. Kurt became a Best Lawyer of America in the field of Patent Law in 2015.
